Job Title: Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) Driver/Operator

Job Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) Driver/Operator to join our team at VitalLink MedTrans Group LLC. The NEMT Driver will be responsible for providing safe, reliable, and comfortable transportation for individuals who need assistance getting to and from medical appointments, treatments, and other non-emergency healthcare services. This role is crucial in ensuring that our clients receive timely and professional services while prioritizing their safety and comfort.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patient Transport: Safely transport clients to and from medical appointments, treatment centers, and other healthcare facilities in a timely and professional manner.
  • Pre-Trip Inspections: Perform daily inspections of vehicles to ensure they are in good working condition, ensuring safety features are functional (brakes, lights, tires, etc.).
  • Client Assistance: Provide assistance to clients as needed, including helping them into and out of vehicles, securing mobility aids (wheelchairs, walkers), and offering general support to ensure a smooth and safe transport experience.
  • Route Planning: Plan and follow the most efficient routes while considering traffic, weather conditions, and appointment schedules to ensure timely arrival.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of trips, including client information, mileage, fuel usage, and any issues encountered during the trip. Ensure timely reporting of any incidents or accidents.
  • Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service by addressing any client concerns or questions and ensuring a positive experience. Maintain a courteous, respectful, and professional demeanor at all times.
  • Vehicle Maintenance: Report any maintenance or repair needs to the supervisor. Clean and maintain the vehicle to ensure it is always presentable and safe for passengers.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies, including those related to transportation, safety, and patient confidentiality (HIPAA).
  • Emergency Response: Respond appropriately in emergency situations, following established protocols to ensure client safety.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with the NEMT Operations Team and other staff to ensure smooth coordination of client schedules and operational efficiency.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience as a driver, particularly in a healthcare or transportation role, is preferred.

Licensing & Certification

  • Valid and clean driver’s license (specific to the state you are operating in).
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
  • First Aid and CPR certification is a plus, but not required.

Skills & Abilities

  • Strong driving record with no major traffic violations.
  • Knowledge of local routes and traffic patterns.
  • Ability to handle passengers with diverse mobility needs (i.e., wheelchair assistance, elderly clients, etc.).
  • Strong communication skills and ability to interact with patients in a respectful, empathetic manner.
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful situations and react appropriately in emergencies.
  • Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Comfortable using smartphones or tablets to log information, navigate routes, and communicate with the dispatch team.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to assist passengers into and out of the vehicle.
  • Ability to lift or assist with loading/unloading mobility aids or medical equipment, as needed (up to 50 lbs).
  • Must be able to sit and drive for extended periods.
